This is a project of recording the age of steam that travelled along the North Cornwall Railway 'The Withered Arm'. The line ran from Okehampton through to Padstow, taking in many stops along the way. The line was closed in 1966 and there now remains little left, especially the station at Launceston where, only one building remains on what is now an industrial estate. There are many photographs recording the history but most are in black in white, which is one reason why I have commenced this project, to add colour to what was the magical age of steam. True railway enthusiasts may be critical of the detail, but for me it was about trying to capture the essence and atmosphere of the time. I hope you enjoy the pictures. Today there is still steam activity in Launceston, running along the old line on narrow gauge track, as far as NewMills approx. 2 miles west of Launceston. For more information go to the website: www.launcestonsr.co.uk
